There are so… so many reasons why I love Aaron Taos’ new single “Bloom”. I don’t even know where to begin, but I’m going to make sure we get through every point before this post is done. To start with, the song itself is a funky indie-electro-rock (?) smooth jam, perfect for… uh… trying to hook up with your best friend’s sister? Hang on —
Okay yeah, that’s the premise of the track. Which hits a little close to home since one of my high school friends now owns a home & a dog with my little sister. A story for another time!
Quick background info: I wanted to tell you a little about Aaron before we jumped in but his Spotify bio is literally one of the reasons I’m hooked so we’re gonna just paste it in here.
Aaron Taos is the son of Robert De Niro and Audrey Hepburn. He bashes his head on his keyboard while running Ableton and records the noises until a song is produced. He’s won like 8 Grammys and a couple Tonys. If you listen I bet you might like a word here or there.
But holy smokes, I can’t get enough of this song. Sometimes it feels like everyone plans their summer singles using the same cookie cutter shape and they all come out as a variation of the same thing. This is something different and I appreciate that so much. This is not one to miss (it’s already on all of my playlists).
I need you to listen to this song, yes. But more than that… I need you to watch the video:
Every single time I see him take a huge bite out of the breadstick and angrily throw the rest into the field, I lose my fucking mind. I’ve watched it at least 60 times, and the reaction never lessens. I am a mess. Shout out to director Taylor Florio, this is a work of art.
I’m so sorry. Every time I try to write a conclusion for this, I can’t. I’m so distracted by the music video, I can’t even think about anything else. Please, watch it so we can just… discuss it and not worry about wrapping things up. Thanks in advance.
