Hippo Campus on Soft Sound Press

PSA: HIPPO CAMPUS HAS RESURRECTED.

To say that I’m ecstatic for the return of one of my favorite indie bands is an understatement. It’s been quite some time since they’ve released new music. 2 years to be exact. However, Hippo Campus is back and ready to revive every indie-loving heart. All of a sudden, my skin has cleared up and the sun is shining a little bit brighter.

(As you can see this is a review, but also a Hippo Campus appreciation post)

Hippo Campus has surprised us all with not only a brand new single, “Bad Dream Baby“, but with a brand new EP entitled, GOOD DOG, BAD DREAM. The EP will be released on August 6th, and just from listening to the single, I’m highly anticipating what’s to come.

In “Bad Dream Baby”, lead singer Jake Luppen brings up an array of subjects. He touched on the loss of his childhood pet, his parent’s divorce, relationships, religion, and even brings up the conservatorship Britney Spears is under (#FreeBritney). Hippo Campus has a profound way of making me want to get up, dance around, and throw things around my room. In a nutshell, their music excites me and makes me a tad bit feral. The drums, the electric guitar, the bass, the trumpet, and the vocals all harmoniously intertwine. I can already tell that “Bad Dream Baby” will be a crowd favourite at shows. Hippo Campus will have their audience in the palm of their hands with this high-energy single, jumping up and down whilst singing along to every lyric.

ALL HIPPO CAMPUS STANS, MARK YOUR CALENDARS BECAUSE THIS UPCOMING EP IS GOING TO BE A GOOD ONE.
