JayWood has had a productive pandemic. Once the tour he was on got cancelled in March 2020, he sat down and made a plan for the future. Once realizing the break would be a little longer than expected (read: never-ending), he started focusing on other goals — learning to relax, working on his mental health, processing grief, writing more. In April 2021, he finally released his Some Days EP after holding onto it for a half decade. As the world begins to reopen and the promise of live shows is returning, he’s ready to come back better than ever.
We had a chance to chat with JayWood (real name Jeremy Haywood-Smith) in… May. And then our site went on an emergency hiatus. Now that we’re also returning better than ever, it’s finally time to sit down and enjoy this interview. It turned out more like a podcast — super long and covering such a wealth of topics. Throw it on while you put together tonight’s dinner or Sunday morning’s house cleaning! And don’t forget to listen to the Some Days EP wherever you stream music.
