Back in April, I told y’all to put Kasador on your list of bands to see at CMW 2019. I hoped my friend Kate would be in town so I could see them with her, as the universe intended. The stars aligned — Kate made it up from NYC and then promptly forgot her ID and was not allowed into the Horseshoe Tavern. HOWEVER, she sent me in solo so I wouldn’t miss out on the experience. I’m so glad she did.
First off, the universe is weird. Right off the bat, Will & I realized we’d met before. We lived in the same residence at Queen’s during my brief stint as a university student (shout out to Gord-Brock!) which is only made weirder by the fact that I did not leave my room for 8 months and met maybe 7 people who didn’t live on Brock 3. Spooky.
I’ve had “High Rise” stuck in my head all day, despite not knowing all the words yet… so mostly it’s just on a hiiiiigh riiiiiise on a loop. But this track was written “from the perspective of feeling pressure, self-doubt, and questioning your future through that wave of midnight anxiety” and it is definitely a perspective that I share. I appreciate being able to process these feelings in a positive environment — listening to a song I enjoy and being like “yep that sucks!” instead of only at midnight mid-meltdown. Reminds me we’re all human.
I love Kasador, I’m so glad I finally got to see them live! If you’d like to do the same, they’ve got a bunch of tour dates coming up at the end of July. If they’re not coming to a city near you, make sure you follow them on socials (the links are below the next photo) to keep track of when they’ll be around.
